It is also known as a graduate degree. Completion of a master's degree program means the end of schooling for most students. With a master's degree or an MA you can head out into the work force fully prepared for most professions. To be accepted into a master's degree program, you need to have a bachelor's degree usually in the same discipline or specialty. At times, some master's degree programs will give credit for equivalent experience. A master's degree program typically means one to two years of full-time study after your undergraduate degree. The completion of a research paper in your field of study, known as a thesis, is required in most disciplines.
